Pound tests highs as BoE bets counter firm dollar: Oct 30, 2026
GBP/USD has been driven by Bank of England tightening expectations against moves in the US dollar around US data and the Federal Reserve. The pound tested six-week highs and traded back above 1.33 as BoE rate hike bets helped it defy strong US GDP, with focus turning to US PCE, GDP and inflation figures after the Fed held rates. Sterling has also edged lower at times as the dollar firmed and in the wake of the Budget.
